What is Godly fear?

If you can watch Fox or CNN news these days and not get a little anxious about the future you are further along than I am. It is getting really scary out there...but it should not be. With a right understanding of the PROPER place of fear in our lives we can be fearless in this world. This is a longer "reference post" you may want to come back to some time. I simply categorized verses on fear from the Psalms. Before you read it, you might want to pray for the peace and understanding of the Spirit.

Understanding the fear of the Lord according to the Psalms.

In the Psalms we learn that we are to fear the Lord and NOTHING else. All other fear is based on some penalty that a situation or person could do to us that we do not want. Godly fear or the fear of the Lord brings blessings, love, purity and forgiveness. It puts God in his proper place. The fear is not for what God will do, but for what He could stop doing. If a proper attitude towards god is maintained, Nothing of any description can cause us to fear. We typically have it backwards. Fear of God begets blessings and relationship in a proper perspective.

I really needed this post. I do not watch the news but I have picked up on what people have been saying lately about what is going on in this world. The past few months I have felt free of my fear, control and anxiety issues, but in the last week I am stuggling.I know that I am in a vicious circle. The lack of control that I fear from this world puts me into a fear and anxiety, hole the kids and I up in a bomb sheltler spiral. I have never looked at fearing the Lord as not fearing what He is going to do but fearing what He could stop doing. He LOVES my husband, He LOVES my children, and He LOVES me. He is with us at every moment desiring a deep realtionship with us. I am praying upon all of the verses that you have typed out for us, that they will be written upon my heart. I want fear Him, and nothing of this world for it has no hold on Him and He is holding me.
Dad, thank you for taking the time to type out each one of these verse. I have really needed all of this. I love you so very much, you are an incredible teacher. I am so blessed to have you in my life!
