Farewell to a Friend

I just deleted a long story about the this guy. He was my best friends dad and the purest American I have ever had the priviledge to know. His trade mark was to speak his mind, wait for the vote and put his whole effort into the decision of the group, his choice or not. I loved him and respected him. I could say a ton about him and his brutally direct ways but just one story will do. A friend, Al and I were teenagers helping Glenwood and his wife Maxine with some heavy lifting. We were moving a washing machine in a narrow laundry room, Glenwood was behind barking orders, Maxine was in front taking them. Al and I were caught in the middle. Maxine was not comprehending what Glenwood was trying to get her to do and listened to the repeated instructions several times. Finally Maxine shouted back: "Glenwood are you trying to memorize that?" "No Maxine, I'm trying to teach it to you!" he roared back. We laughed so hard we nearly dropped the washing machine. I could write a book about them but it would never capture all that they were. They cannot be described, only experienced. I'm sorry you did not know them. The Moores were a rare gift to mankind and a special gift to me. I can hardly wait to see them again. When we all get there, I will introduce them to you, you'll love them too.

What did you delete? I remember Mrs. Moore. She was my SS teacher.
